The upcoming release has a new graphical design provided by UW Marketing and a number of new customization features and improvements on usability and accessibility by UW Technology. These changes are summarized here:
The way you personalize the MyUW page appearance has been simplified. Just use the arrow icons on the top left corner of the page to move to the next theme or change back to the previous theme.
The navigational tabs are displayed on the left-hand side of the screen (in bigger font size so it is easier to read). The active tab, which is currently selected, is always displayed on top. The heading displayed below an active tab title is for navigating to a particular content box on that tab/page.
To move boxes, put your mouse cursor over the title bar of a box, and click "&" hold down the mouse key on Mac or the left mouse key on Windows to drag the box where you want it to appear on the page.
You can rename your custom boxes and move the link from one box to another. Multiple custom boxes can be added on any Tab.
In the past, only a small percentage of users discovered the page where they can change MyUW content and page settings (via the link on the top right of the page, originally called Preferences, later called Appearance). Now the corresponding links are placed on the main page to make it easier to change these settings.
Only if you have changed the content on that tab/page, will you see a Reset Content link. It is for changing your content selections on that page back to the default (your own Links will not be affected).
Only if the tab/page you are currently at is not the first page you would see when you log onto MyUW, will you see a Set First Page link. It is for setting the current tab/page to be your default first page.
This link will switch the setting to the opposite choice. By default, all the content links on any MyUW page open in a new window.
Depending on your connection (on campus or not), this link will switch the corresponding setting to the opposite choice. By default, when you access MyUW on campus, you will see the images displayed inside the MyView box; otherwise you will see the links of the images (to speed up the page loading).
A couple of tabs have been reorganized and renamed to make accessing the corresponding content easier.
MyUW pages have switched from HTML to XHTML 1.0.
