In the Burke Museum’s new environmental photography exhibit, Fast Moving Water: The Hoh River Story, acclaimed nature photographer Keith Lazelle captures the dramatic beauty of the Hoh River, one of only a few virtually intact and pristine rivers in the contiguous United States. Follow its rich history and cultural significance, to the remarkable tale of cooperation among environmentalists, communities, tribes, government, and the timber industry to preserve the river.

[event image]This photographic exhibition by Stephen Shames, on loan from the Aperture Foundation, shows not only the public face of the Black Panthers but also behind-the-scenes moments. During the height of the civil rights movement, from 1967-1973, Shames was given unprecedented access to the Black Panther Party, capturing the street demonstrations, protests, militant armed posturing, private Party meetings, and Bobby Seale at work on his mayoral campaign in Oakland.
